Sally Yapto is an award-winning Indonesian concert pianist and educator known for her expressive musicality and compelling interpretations. In 2024, Jakarta Conservatory of Music described her as “the Painter,” highlighting her ability to shape the color of sound and transform the atmosphere of a performance.

Since making her solo debut in Jakarta in 2016 in a concert sponsored by I-MEC and Yamaha, Yapto has performed in New York, Los Angeles, Italy, Bangkok, Singapore, and Indonesia.

Her formative training includes studying under renowned pianist and pedagogue Ory Shihor at the Ory Shihor Institute in Los Angeles, where she completed her diploma in 2020. She later moved to New York City to study with pianist Alexandre Moutouzkine at Manhattan School of Music, where she earned both her Bachelor of Music, summa cum laude, and Master of Music.

Her career highlights include winning the 2024 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition and becoming the youngest pianist to receive Indonesia’s highest score for the Trinity College London ATCL Diploma.

Having experienced both British examination traditions and American conservatory training, Yapto brings a broad and adaptable perspective to her teaching. Her approach combines technical discipline, musical understanding, and artistic individuality, allowing her to guide students according to their abilities and long-term aspirations.

Yapto is the founder and director of Symphony Acoustic Studio in Surabaya, where she is committed to providing highly personalized classical piano education and creating clearer pathways for Indonesian students interested in advanced musical training and conservatory study.
